The 'Standard' A reference for all Canadian coins!

Charlton Press comments on this title:

"Volume One, 65th edition, Canadian Coins, is a 384-page book listing only Canadian coins of standard designs, and commemorative coins. All circulating legal tender (CLT) issues are listed in Volume One. Starting with the 1990 listings we have moved grades up a notch from MS-63 to MS-64, MS-65 and MS-66 for most denominations. The demand is again moving to higher condition coins, emphasizing the importance of grading.

You will notice in our tables we use a dash in place of a price. The theory behind this is simple. You cannot price what has not been graded. Population Reports now cover a span of 25 years. If a grade does not appear in the POP’s report, then it is safe to say it probably does not exist. Please remember this statement is based on coins graded by Canadian grading companies.

The varieties in the Victorian section of the book have been expanded in five of the six denominations. Approximately thirty new varieties have been added. Our rationale for defining and listing a new variety is a new font or, the repunching of either the letters or digits of the coin.

The Elizabeth II small cents 1999 to 2010 are becoming an interesting collectable series with many varieties surfacing between the magnetic (CPS) and nonmagnetic (CPZ) planchets which are used by the Royal Canadian Mint. This section has been reorganized to assist in identifying all the combinations that currently exist.

The Variety Section in the 65th edition is devoted to Victoria large cents 1858 to 1901. These 85 pages illustrating 81 different varieties is but a small sampling of the hundred of different varieties to be found in the Victoria large cents series."
