The United States Mint began producing a new set of 50 Commemorative Quarters recently, and unlike many previously released coins, these quarters, one for each state, are being released into general circulation. U.S. 1857 Half Cent

Did you know that the United States used to have two and three cent pieces? And that before we had nickels, we had coins we called half dimes? Well, it's true!

A "type coin" refers to coins that are no longer used for simple currency exchange and are usually not found in your daily pocket change. Because of this scarcity, collectors generally search for at least one of each of these coins. Surprisingly, many of these coins of yesteryear are very modestly priced, considering their age.
